About US
The league was founded in the 1960s as the Peterborough Interworks Tennis League. At that time it was
contested by teams drawn from the major employers in the area.
In the 1980s tennis clubs and other local organisations joined and the title was changed to The Peterborough
Hard Court Tennis League. The league comtinued to grow and many teams from outside the city wanted to join. In 1995 the
present name was adopted.
The league runs two competitions, a summer league and a winter league. Summer league matches are played in the evenings
on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. This summer there were 35 teams split into 4 divisions. Teams are comprised of three
pairs who each play three rubbers of 13 games. Points are awarded for each rubber won, for most rubbers won, and for most
games won.
Winter league matches are played on Sunday mornings. Teams are comprised of two pairs who play the opposing two pairs
in two tie break sets. Both leagues are open to players of either sex.
There is also a one day competition held in September open to pairs drawn from all clubs in the league.
